The AI companion: bounded by design

Why the in-app assistant is framed as preparation and reflection—not a clinician, not a crisis line.

Large language models can be helpful for explaining general concepts or helping you organize questions before a visit. They can also “sound sure” when they should not. Our companion is tuned and prompted to stay inside non-clinical support: no dosing, no diagnosis, no emergency handling.

If the model detects crisis language, the UI should steer you toward human help and national resources. That behavior is a product requirement, not an afterthought.

What you should still do in real life

Bring a written list of medications and prior treatments to your clinician. Ask about risks, benefits, and alternatives. Use 988 or emergency services when safety is on the line.
